WHAT IS JTF?
JTF is the Junior Theatre Festival held in Newcastle at the end of October every year.
THE JUNIOR THEATRE FESTIVAL IS AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST CELEBRATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND MUSICAL THEATRE!
Alongside JTF Atlanta, JTF Sacramento, JTF Europe and JTF New Zealand, the Junior Theatre Festival Australia enjoys a large network of JTF festivals worldwide.
Produced by OzTheatrics and under the educational and artistic supervision of iTheatrics, sponsored by Music Theatre International Australasia, the Junior Theatre Festival Australia (JTF Australia) brings students, teachers and industry professionals together to celebrate outstanding student musical theatre productions.

Festival events include: adjudications, student workshops, professional development for teachers, the New Works Showcase, an awards ceremony and the largest collection of Aussie musical theater lovers under one roof. Held annually in Newcastle, NSW, JTF Australia has become a must attend musical theatre event. The festival welcomes special industry and celebrity guests each year and since its inception in 2016, JTF Australia has grown from 250 people in attendance to over 1,000 attendees. It is a weekend of true musical theatre madness that is not to be missed!

This year ROAR Academy has a number of options to offer you with your JTF Adventure
This year we will be presenting a 15min piece from FROZEN Jr and we will be part of the New Works showcase.
ROAR will put forward 5 students to be a part of the PILOT Programme and 8 students will be selected to audition for the Aussie All Stars 2025 trip to the USA. If you wish to be considered for either a spot on the Pilot Programme or All Stars team, then you will need to attend an interview with our Principal - Madeleine Johns - to secure one of these positions.

INFORMATION SESSION FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS - Saturday 8th July 10am
JTF Rehearsals commence Thursday 20th July (Term 3 - week 2) and will run through Term 3 on a Thursday 6-8pm and through to Term 4 weeks 1-3

- Attend JTF New Zealand - October 20-21 in Auckland - there are 2 options for travel: 18-25 October (via Sydney to Auckland and Queenstown) or 18-22 October (via Sydney with the option to travel back to Newcastle by Oct 22 to attend the Pilot Workshop)
- Attend JTF Newcastle - October 27-28 - leaving Brisbane October 26 (direct) or October 25 (via Sydney to see Wicked) and return October 29
- Attend the PILOT Programme October 23-27 prior to JTF Newcastle

- Attending JTF NZ 18-22 October (Festival 20-21 October) or 18-26 October (Festival 20-21 October)
- Attending WICKED in Sydney Wednesday 18 October (on the way to NZ) or Wednesday 25 October (on the way to JTF Newcastle)
- Being Considered for the 2025 AUSSIE ALL Stars Team
- Mum or Dad volunteering as a Chaperone – please advise who and what experience you have had in this regard
- Other family members attending JTF – how many and who are they?
